Business Overview: 
The Barclays Commodities business has 4 offices around the world and strong market presence across the Americas, Europe and in the Asia Pacific, in addition to a team of over 50 dedicated front office professionals. The business is consistently ranked top 3 by many of the specialist surveys in the financial services industry and represents one of the strongest franchises in the market. 

Commodities is responsible for providing risk management, financing, and investor solutions on a range of commodities: from oil, gas, and precious metals. In addition to the full range of over-the counter (OTC) commodity products, the team also works closely with the futures division who offer clients access to all the large commodities exchanges globally.

Commodities deals globally with over 1,700 clients including but not limited to exploration and production companies, consumers, utilities, industrials, transportation, power producers, generating companies, government, and institutional investors seeking to achieve or mitigate a particular risk/return exposure to commodities markets. 

In the US the commodities sales desks are divided into the following groups: E&P and Midstream Producers, Consumers/Industrials, Utilities and Institutional Clients, and Corporate Structuring. 

Overview of Analyst Position: 
Due to the wide range of clients and products that Commodity Sales covers, the Analyst experience is ever changing. You should expect to facilitate both flow and structured transactions. The Commodities sales desk runs a training program for all new Analysts to teach them the fundamentals of the broad scope of products we trade, the other groups within Barclays that we interact with and the systems we use. Following the cross-commodity training program, Analysts will be assigned to a particular sales team (Consumers, Power, Institutional, etc) where they will work very closely with both the senior and junior salespeople within that team. We aim to have a flat structure that allows you to take on as much responsibility as possible to better prepare them for the goal of covering clients. We expect you to work closely with the Trading team in all aspects of closing a deal from ensuring proper credit appetite to market pricing.  
Skill Set Required For Position: 
• Strong quantitative and qualitative skills with particular focus on comprehensive Excel and presentation skills 
• Detail oriented 
• Strong communication skills 
• Significant interest in markets with particular focus on Economics and cross-asset interaction 
• Ability to multi-task under pressure 
• Work effectively in a team-environment 
• Strong work ethic, proactive attitude and ability to take initiative on projects
