Big Orange Recording Studio Internship, BTT Gateway Job ID 7048

A summer 2013 internship is available for undergraduate, graduate students, or recent university graduates interested in gaining experience with analog recording and engineering, analog equipment maintenance and repair, and music production at an artist-run analog recording studio and music production space in downtown East Austin.

Interns will assist with recording session set up and break down, repairing and maintaining equipment, studio administration and booking, developing circuits, as well as a few light marketing and public relations initiatives.

Additional projects that match the interests and skills of applicants are also available. This internship is unpaid but provides the applicant with great exposure to a vibrant and important part of the city’s musical fabric, as well as direct exposure to Grammy-winning engineers and producers with years of experience in the music industry.

Interested candidates should have a strong interest in both music recording as well as electrical engineering. Familiarity with Mac OS X, Pro Tools, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Excel is preferable. Familiarity with other recording software like Logic 9, Toast, Ableton, and other recording software is encouraged but not necessary. The ability to manage multiple projects and priorities, and an attention to detail are an absolute must. The intern’s daily activities will involve a fair amount of soldering so any interested candidates should have a basic understanding of how to solder.
