Tue, February 5, 2013

PHAP is a competitive two-year, entry-level on-the-job training program for frontline public health Associates who are employed by CDC but work directly in state, tribal, local and territorial public health departments. Associates develop valuable career skills and on-the-job training that will allow them to become well-rounded public health professionals.

Currently, PHAP has 159 Public Health Associates fulfilling hands-on workforce needs in public health agencies across 34 states, two tribes, one territory, and the District of Columbia and anticipates placing 133 new associates in July of 2013. After completing the program, PHAP graduates will be qualified for jobs with federal, state, tribal, local, and territorial public health agencies, and will be uniquely prepared to pursue an advanced degree in public health.

Additional information about the program and the application process for associates can be found on the PHAP website (
