Contribute to Citizen Schools growing and impactful work to engage corporations and volunteers from the STEM field to make an impact for students across the country as a one year STEM VISTA. Citizen Schools' STEM VISTAs will be placed in 5 of 7 CS regions, playing a key role in building Citizen Schools' capacity to partner with larger volumes of STEM organizations and accommodate their particular needs. The opportunity provides an organized and driven individual with an opportunity to learn and grow in volunteer recruitment, civic engagement and project management.
Member Responsibilities:
Support recruitment, training and retainment efforts for Citizen Schools STEM volunteers
Identify sources (STEM companies and professional organization) for recruitment of individuals and groups of STEM volunteers
Maintain regular touch points with volunteers throughout the semester to gauge volunteer engagement, apprenticeship progression, and areas for growth
Support regional and national External Engagement teams to develop STEM recruitment collateral
Support regional and national External Engagement teams to develop customized training for STEM volunteers
Work with volunteers and STEM organizations to develop high quality STEM curricula for inclusion in Citizen Schools' Core
Curriculum Library
Support, deepen and innovate systems and process for monitoring progress, data and information
Maintain external engagement database (Salesforce) for volunteer recruitment and fundraising efforts
Lead on the input and management of information into Salesforce
Work with regional External Engagement Team to analyze data to inform strategic action around recruitment of volunteers
Monitor and document the experience of STEM volunteers and implement tools that measure their experience and outcomes
Research and identify new STEM partners and outreach for attraction
Deepening existing partnerships and identifying new channels for corporate and nonprofit STEM partners
Developing collateral such as email templates, videos, and other promotional materials that profile success stories of STEM volunteers locally and can be used for broad distribution and further mobilization.
Assist in the planning and execution of a variety of different events
Support in the delivery of apprenticeships or mentorship on campus by assisting volunteers or other CS staff members
Support in both in person and online training delivery for volunteers
Support regional and campus events, including end-of-semester WOWs, as needed
Requirements for this opportunity:
Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience
Stellar written and oral communication skills
Ability to communicate with a diverse range of stakeholders
Command of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel; database skills strongly encouraged; experience with Google Docs,DropBox, and Salesforce a plus
