Who We Are

Working at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau means getting in on the ground floor of a 21st century Bureau that’s poised to change the way consumers are treated in the financial marketplace. The Director’s Financial Analyst Program is our flagship two-year rotational program which offers a select number of recent college graduates the opportunity to work with senior-level executives on some of the most critical issues facing consumers in the United States.

Who You Are

Candidates should be detail-oriented, innovative self-starters with a desire to work in a fast-paced, analytical environment. The Bureau’s start-up environment requires skill in adaptability, problem solving, collaboration, and communication. Candidates must be quantitatively driven, have completed extensive coursework in economics, finance, mathematics or statistics. A demonstrated track record of experience in finance is essential. Ideal candidates should also have a demonstrated history of interest in consumer insight, consumer behavior, consumer protection, and/or public service.

What You’ll Do

This program enables selected analysts to complete at least three rotations across areas at the CFPB including Research, Markets & Regulations, Supervision, Enforcement, Fair Lending, Consumer Education and Engagement and the Office of the Director. Analysts also receive world-class mentoring and training to support their development.

The Director’s Financial Analyst Program is built on 5 pillars:

  • CHALLENGE: Full immersion in our greatest challenges – no one sits on the sidelines

  • PROBLEM SOLVING: Training that prepares you to turn raw data into communicable knowledge, and

    turn knowledge into action

  • IMPACT: Work on projects that aim to empower American consumers and spur economic vitality.

  • APPRENTICESHIP: Mentorship from our senior experts

  • GROWTH: Follow your own path that, at completion, will give you uniquely deep understanding of financial markets to greatly impact both public and private sectors
