Consumers Union [ http://www.consumersunion.org/ ], publisher of Consumer Reports, announces a paid student assistant position. We’re looking for current students or those in their first year after graduation to join the stori.es team:

You’ll work in downtown Austin, Texas near the University of Texas campus. The position begins January 2015 and runs through May 2015 - right on schedule with semester breaks. Candidates should be available to work 20 hours a week, but we are very understanding about what it’s like to be a student so your schedule is flexible.

Job Requirements 
*Become a power user and administrator of the stori.es web app 
*[ http://stori.es/ ] 
*Think up ideas for new features in the app 
*Discover and design features (or build them, if that interests you) 
*Prototype and test feature ideas with stori.es users (staff members at nonprofit organizations) 
*Design features using prototyping tools (Axure, Photoshop expertise A+) 
*Collaborate with the stori.es software engineers in an agile software development environment 
*Communicate ideas using Atlassian’s JIRA software project management system

*Move your designs through development, testing, all the way to deployment 
*in a production environment 
*Learn from user feedback 
*Help create an emerging medium for digital storytelling 
*Run the stori.es blog and experiment in social channels using stori.es identities and your own 
*Identify your strengths at a time when that is often useful 

*You want to learn more and care about your work 
*You’re well organized and able to manage lots of information 
*You pay strong attention to detail and can focus for extended periods 
*You have an interest in bettering the world, maybe experience working for or volunteering with organizations focused on issues such as a food safety, health care reform, financial services, energy and climate change 
*You have excellent written and oral communications skills 
*You have outstanding interpersonal skills and are highly motivated! You are responsible, self-directed, resourceful, and flexible! 
*And you better have experience with and know how to use the Interwebz. Let’s just say you need not apply if you do not know how to use the Interwebz.
