Eden House is a groundbreaking non-profit facility in New Orleans, Louisiana, offering long-term housing and services to survivors of human trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation. Our two-year residential program offers a holistic approach to recovery including housing, food, mental and physical health care, job training, legal services, and education. Eden House provides a safe haven empowering survivors to overcome their pasts, develop substantive skills to move forward in their lives by becoming flourishing members of the community. Our clinical team works closely with each resident to create a unique two year plan in-line with each woman’s vision for her own life.
AmeriCorps VISTA members are passionate and committed to their mission to bring individuals and communities out of poverty. Members make a year-long, full-time commitment to serve on a specific project at a nonprofit organization or public agency. They focus their efforts to build the organizational, administrative, and financial capacity of organizations that fight illiteracy, improve health services, foster economic development, and otherwise assist low-income communities.
The AmeriCorps Vista at Eden House plays an integral role within the staff. We are seeking a motivated, self-starter, who has a desire to work with women who have survived addiction, violence, prostitution, and life on the streets to help both empower and assist them during their two years in the program. Job duties include community engagement, resident support, marketing and communications management, and intern coordination and supervision. Eden House is a close-knit, dynamic organization and this position provides many opportunities to work with residents and fellow staff in a meaningful way.
Requirements: U.S. citizens, 18 and older, college graduate
