Focused Advocacy is currently accepting resumes for full-time and part-time intern applicants for the Fall of 2016. The Focused Internship Program offers an unparalleled opportunity for college students, graduate students and recent graduates to learn more about public affairs, governmental affairs, and corporate communications campaigns through day-to-day responsibilities and experiences not found in other programs. Our intern team plays a critical role in both client work and internal projects, often involving research and writing components. Candidates must have a strong work ethic, an interest in Texas politics, and a willingness to accept responsibility and contribute immediately to Focused Advocacy's mission, values and goals.

Focused Advocacy interns perform a myriad of tasks for the firm and are an essential part of the work team. In addition to gaining hands on legislative experience, day to day tasks include the following:
-Researching local and state-level policy
-Navigating state filings
-Corresponding with legislative officials and staff
-Coordinating social media campaigns
-Analyzing and understanding proposed legislation

Job Qualifications:
Applicants should be motivated, fast learners with demonstrated writing, research, and organizational skills. A keen interest in government, politics, or corporate strategy is preferred.

Knowledge of and experience in Associated Press (AP) style is required.

Potential candidates must have a strong academic background, be able to manage multiple projects at a time, and maintain a professional and positive attitude.

Candidates must be able to commit a minimum of 20 hours a week to the team
