BACKGROUND: 
GIS Data Specialists (GDS) builds and implements enterprise GIS solutions primarily for clients in the pipeline industry in the Texas and Louisiana Gulf Coast region. We have expertise in geospatial data development, management and analysis, production of cartographic products and web-based applications, and GPS data collection. 

POSITION SUMMARY: 
We have a 1 to 2 year contract employment opportunity for an Entry-level GIS Analyst to work on site at the Houston, TX offices of Air Liquide, a multinational producer/supplier of industrial gases. Under the supervision of our lead GIS Consultant and GIS Analyst, you will perform a variety of tasks related to all phases of ongoing and upcoming pipeline projects; from route planning and right-of-way acquisition, through construction and integrity management. This is an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to many facets of the pipeline industry, and develop a wide range of technical GIS skills under the guidance of an experienced consultant. 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 
• Perform a variety of technical support functions in management of Air Liquide’s GIS, including conversion, processing, editing and delivery of geospatial datasets 
• Work closely with Air Liquide staff in multiple departments to identify & evaluate GIS needs 
• Create various cartographic products including large format maps and map books 
• Coordinate with surveyors and field crews on GPS data collection and delivery 
• Collaborate with GDS staff to implement GIS applications and troubleshoot issues 

QUALIFICATIONS: 
• Bachelor’s Degree and experience with Esri ArcGIS Suite and extensions 

REQUIRED SKILLS: 
• Familiarity with ArcGIS workflows and best practices 
• Experience with ArcGIS geoprocessing tools 
• Knowledge of geodatabase structure/schema 
• Understanding of geographic and projected coordinate systems 
• Familiarity with geospatial data formats, standards and resources 
• Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines for simultaneous projects 
• Effective and professional communication skills 
• Prior experience applying GIS in the pipeline industry, as well as prior experience with Trimble GPS units (data dictionary design and post-processing of GPS data) is a plus
