Position Highlights: 

Acting independently under consultative direction, this role is responsible for the analysis, review, and presentation of cash flow testing results for different accounting basis. Also ensure the accuracy of booked reserves, and to analyze, review, and present to management the experience studies results. 

Primary Responsibilities: 

- Perform and manage actuarial experience studies to develop assumptions for mortality, persistency, expense, etc. 
- Ensure reserves and related liabilities are calculated and reported accurately on Canadian GAAP, USGAAP, US Stat, and Tax bases. 
- Create, review, analyze, and communicate to management the results from the quarterly Canadian Asset Liability Method analysis and modeling. This would include both asset and liability modeling 
- Create, review, analyze, and communicate to management the results from other cash flow testing analysis 
- Ability to work independently and perform analysis to answers senior managements "what-if" questions and scenario 
- Strong communication skills to explain model output and results to senior management 
- Mentoring and management of more junior staff will be expected 
- Support other departments in response to their needs in risk management, hedging, earnings, and capital 
- Support other departments in response to their needs in ALM and valuation related issues and respond to External Audit, Rating Agency, and Insurance Department requests. 
- Complete special actuarial projects as assigned 


- Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science or Math/Statistics, or equivalent experience 
- Fellow of the Society of Actuaries or Canadian Institute of Actuaries and at least 2 years relevant experience in valuation, actuarial, or investment departments 
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, VBA, and Access 
- Experience with pricing/ALM modeling software such as GGY AXIS or MG-ALFA is preferred 
- Previous relevant experience, preferred
