    • Teach for America – Teach For America recruits outstanding recent college graduates, graduate students, and professionals – of all academic majors and career backgrounds – who commit two years to teach in urban and rural public schools. Our corps members become lifelong leaders in the effort to make a great education, and the opportunities that come with it, a reality for all students. Teach For America’s network in the 2012-13 school year includes 10,400 corps members teaching in 46 regions across the country and nearly 28,000 alumni working in education and many other sectors to create the systemic changes that will help end educational inequity.

    • YES Prep Public Schools - For over seventeen years, YES Prep Public Schools has redefined what is possible in public education. With more than 10,000 college-bound students in Houston, we are a system of high-performing public charter schools, proving that students from low-income communities can achieve at the highest levels. YES Prep students are shattering the status quo with state assessment scores, Advanced Placement passing rates, and college graduation numbers that are far higher than national averages. As the winner of the Broad Prize for the most Outstanding Charter Management Organization in the nation and Houston Business Journal’s Best Place to Work award for four consecutive years, YES Prep is not only redefining possible for our students, we are an employer of choice for extraordinary, diverse talent.

    • Peace Corps - Make a difference in the lives of others and your own.  As a Peace Corps Volunteer, you will help a community in need, gain valuable cross-cultural skills, and become a citizen of the world. Positions available in Education, Health, Agriculture, Environment, Community Economic Development, & Youth Development.  Benefits include full health and dental coverage in service, graduate school programs, and federal employment advantage.  More than 7,000 Volunteers of all backgrounds and ages are serving in a variety of fields in 64 countries.  Peace Corps Volunteers must be U.S. citizens and at least 18 years of age, but there is no upper age limit.

    • Apollo 20 Fellows Program - The Apollo 20 Fellows Program is a Fellowship through Houston Independent School District that places passionate full-time tutors in schools across Houston ISD. The program is designed to expand educational opportunities for students in Houston's most high-need schools through intensive small group tutoring in math. Fellows work to meet the unique learning needs of each child through lessons that bridge academic gaps and grow students' confidence. As fellows challenge students to reach big goals they also challenge themselves to strengthen communication, critical thinking, and management skills. Most importantly, fellows ensure every child knows the endless opportunities that exist for their lives.

  • City Year - City Year was founded in 1988 on the belief that young people can change the world. City Year is an education focused, nonprofit organization that unites young people of all backgrounds for a year of full-time service to keep students in school and on track to graduation. At City Year’s 27 urban locations across the United States and two international affiliates, teams of trained young people (corps members) serve full-time in schools for the academic year as tutors, mentors, and role models. By providing attendance and behavior coaching in addition to regular tutoring, corps members support students in multiple ways. Moreover, as near-peer mentors, our corps members are uniquely able to help students and schools succeed.
