The Mothers’ Milk Bank at Austin (MMBA) seeks an intern to directly support the fundraising efforts of the Development Director. MMBA is a nonprofit whose mission is to accept, pasteurize and dispense donor human milk by physician prescription, primarily to premature and ill infants.

MMBA is conveniently located just north of the UT campus on Dean Keaton and Medical Arts. Free, on-site parking is available.

Responsibilities Include
• To administer Salesforce database to effectively manage donor communications, including
o tracking and acknowledging incoming gifts
o Logging donor cultivation and stewardship activities
o Pulling existing reports and creating new reports to evaluate gift program
o Researching and implementing increased database functionality
• To assist with the planning and execution of special events, including
o Using database to prepare lists of invitees
o Tracking ticket sales and event attendees
o Researching venues and contacting potential vendors
o Assisting with the execution of silent auction, including
 soliciting, processing, and acknowledging in-kind donations
 creating auction packages, setting bid prices, and writing package descriptions
 researching payment processing and tracking options
• to assist with the preparation of written donor communication pieces, including
o compiling data for grant reports
o drafting update letters for individual donors
• to conduct prospect research on individuals, foundations, and corporations

Qualifications
• Strong writing and research abilities
• Strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail
• Desire to learn more about fundraising, philanthropy, and special events.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
• Experience with databases is a plus
• A demonstrated commitment to MMBA’s mission and values
• Unimpeachable ethical standards and personal integrity

Hours, Start Date and Duration
Flexible within business hours (8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.). A commitment of 12 hours per week is required. The internship will start at a mutually agreed upon date and must continue through the end of the 2015 spring semester, with strong preference given to candidates who can commit to continuing the internship until at least July 1, 2015.

Compensation
This is an unpaid position. There is opportunity for school credit if allowed by the college/university of applicant. Position offers an excellent opportunity to work on substantive projects and can result in a great reference. Candidates with a demonstrated interested in development and/or special events will gain valuable work experience.
