U.S. Congressman Michael McCaul (TX-10), Chairman, House Committee on Homeland Security, is accepting applications for a Press internship located at his district office in Austin, TX. This internship will allow the student to gain direct knowledge of how communications/press relations function in a congressional office as well as see the inner workings that are required to effectively communicate to and best serve the constituents of the Tenth District. Many congressional interns have used their experience to further their interests and careers in public service and government. 

The intern’s duties will include assisting the communications director with press clippings, drafting official materials, maintaining the office media contact list, and other communications responsibilities as needed. In addition, the intern will communicate with constituents on the phone and in the office, working to resolve their issues or concerns, researching topics and gathering information for staff members, and assisting staff with administrative tasks throughout the office.  
The intern must be a journalism, communications, public relations or related field major and show achievement in their work. Junior and Senior level or Post graduate applicants are preferred, however all applications will be considered. 
Schedules: This internship will be required to work in office 15-20 hours a week with schedules being arranged based on academic availability during the day/week. The internship will run from September 1 – December 15.
