RBI, a leading B2B online media and publishing company, is looking for a creative and enthusiastic intern to join its 24-hour global production team, which includes offices in Houston, London, Guangzhou, Shanghai and Singapore. 

Interns will be provided with the opportunity to gain practical editorial and production experience and network with employees from various departments. Overall, the intern will become familiar with the basic structure of a media/publishing company, and the role of each department within. 

Ideal candidates will have excellent communication and editing skills and a strong interest digital and/or print content. The intern works closely with the Chief Copy Editor to learn how we create and refine all material put forth by the company. 

Responsibilities may include: 
-- Complete simple layout tasks to a high standard. 
-- Edit copy with a particular focus on accuracy and the logic of the reporting, ensuring style is enforced 
-- Provide general editorial and office support such as data entry, filing, scanning, database maintenance, etc.

-- Ability to copy-edit quickly and to a high standard 
-- Ability to see beyond cosmetic issues and ask searching questions about copy 

-- Superior written and spoken command of the English language 

-- Self-starter, able to learn new skills quickly 
-- Decisive and detail-oriented 
-- Able to meet multiple tight deadlines 

Internship details 
-- The internship lasts approximately 10-12 weeks 
*Spring: Program starts mid-February 
*Summer: Program starts at the beginning of June 
*Fall: Program starts at the beginning of September 
-- This internship is in-house only, at our Houston office. 
-- It is part-time and unpaid, with an 8-20 hour/week commitment. 
-- Interns will be responsible for their own travel, housing, food and personal expenses.

Qualifications and requirements: 
-- To be considered, candidates must meet one of the following criteria: 
* Be entering or in their Senior year of a Bachelor’s degree program in journalism, mass communications, literature or other related fields 
* Be in a Graduate degree program in journalism, mass communications, literature or other related fields
-- Candidates must be expert users of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) 
-- Basic knowledge of page-layout software (such as Quark or InDesign) is required 
-- Proficiency with the Adobe suite (Illustrator, InCopy, Acrobat, Photoshop) is a plus 
-- Experience using content management systems (CMS) is a plus 
-- Knowledge of oil, gas, energy or petrochemical markets is a plus 
-- Writers/editors for school newspapers a plus. 
-- Fluency in Spanish or Portuguese a plus 
-- Candidates must be eligible to work in the US without visa restrictions 
-- Tests of copyediting and page-layout skills will be required.
