Do you enjoy interacting with park visitors and assisting them in understanding and appreciating the park’s natural and cultural resources while living and working in a beautiful mountain setting? As an interpretive intern you would gain experience in presenting thematic interpretative programs, operating visitor centers, and gain knowledge on a variety of topics including wildlife biology, botany, forest ecology, geology, history and park management.

Rocky Mountain National Park seeks college students or recent graduates of exceptional ability with a background in natural or physical sciences, history, communication, education, natural science interpretation, recreation and resources management or a related field.
In addition to public speaking skills, the ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of audiences, communicating with your supervisor and working as a team with park staff and the public are essential skills.

Duties include preparing and facilitating up to three or four interpretive natural or cultural history programs to a variety of audiences, answering questions at park visitor centers and communicating current park issues in a professional manner to the public.
Additional duties include working as a team with park volunteers, seasonal and permanent staff. Must possess a valid driver’s license and have the ability to work on uneven terrain above 8,000 feet.

August 17 through November 1, 2014 Commitment is forty hours/week. Stipend is $225/week + housing. Uniform is provided.
