In 2010 Southwestern was ranked by Forbes #1 on their list of top 10 intern employers in the United States.  Students interested in learning more about the internships that are available should send Ben Kessler an E-Mail with your Resume that contains their name, year in school, major, and telephone number.  You can send these to, with the subject line being ADVANTAGE.  Below is a brief description of the Southwestern/Great American Corporation.

Southwestern is an international corporation operating in 15 countries worldwide.  Companies in our corporate umbrella include a financial services company that ranked #1 of Raymond James investment firms nationwide last year, the largest fundraising company in North America that works primarily with schools, a sales and marketing consulting firm, an executive search company that works with all types of businesses ranging from private businesses to Fortune 100 companies, a supplemental insurance company, and a real estate company.  Southwestern runs a sales and business management internship that focuses on teaching students how to build and maintain a client base.  There is a heavy emphasis on consultative sales.  The average first year intern makes slightly over $8,300 based on a 12 week summer.

The Southwestern Advantage Summer Internship Program has been acknowledged year after year as one of the top internship opportunities in the country, due to the large amount of responsibility the students take on by running their own business.  In 2006 and 2013 Southwestern was honored with a Best in Business Award, and has recently been featured in USA Today, Forbes, Sales and Marketing Management Magazine, and the Tennessean, as well as on CNN Money.  Alumni include Governor Rick Perry, U.S. Senator Jeff Sessions, Vice President of Merrill Lynch Jay Gelbart, Best Selling Author Max Lucado, former U.S. Special Prosecutor Kenneth Starr, Founder of Successories and Simple Truths Mac Anderson, President of the Hunts Sports Group John Wagner, Scientist and Co-Discoverer of Lipitor Roger Newton, and Owner of Learfield Communications (leader in collegiate sports marketing) Clyde Lear.
