WHAT ARE THE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS POSITION?
* Designs the behavior and structure of innovative, well-integrated customer-facing user experiences
* Creates digital artifacts as part of the multi-disciplinary User Interface design team
* Translates business requirements into meaningful interactive experiences
* Develops information architecture, interaction designs, and associated documentation for web sites and applications
* Uses digital standards and style guides to ensure design consistency across the enterprise
WHAT KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS ARE NEEDED TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS POSITION?
* Enhances information architecture team accomplishments and competence by planning delivery of solutions; answering technical and procedural questions for less experienced team members; teaching improved processes; and mentoring team members
* Plans information architecture by studying the site concept, strategy, and target audience; envisioning architectural scheme, information structure and features, functionality, and user-interface design; creating user scenarios; preparing data models; designing information structure, work-and dataflow, and navigation; evaluating information representation; conducting creative meetings
* Organizes information by translating user behavior into media structure and elements; crafting interactive experiences; producing workflow diagrams, user scenarios, flowcharts, and storyboards; preparing interaction specifications, navigation rules, organization of information, and site maps; coordinating with business, technical, and UI teams
* Implements information architecture by preparing various prototypes and mockups including page layout and navigational elements; coordinating with other multi-disciplinary team members to integrate site concept, visual design, writing, interface, and navigational structure; documenting structure and processes
* Defines site architecture and navigation that serves as a blueprint upon which other elements are built
* Applies methodologies of interaction design and analytic research to business challenges
* Executes information architecture of complex transactional interfaces, taxonomies and metadata frameworks, and templates for content management systems
* Provides strategic thought leadership relating to principles of usability and user-centric design
* Works well and communicates effectively with multi-disciplinary team and stakeholders
* Very strong web and mobile industry experience; ability to advise customer decisions based on that experience
* Master at creating interfaces, large scale websites, and applications
* Proven ability to balance multiple projects, schedules and deadlines
* Updates job knowledge by tracking research regarding web design and usability; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations
* Enhances organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different approaches to interaction design
* HFI Certification preferred
ITEMS OF NOTE
* Job may require limited travel via commercial transportation and/or driving motor vehicles, and may include weekends
* Requires education and/or experience in digital graphic design
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
State Farm Insurance is seeking both UX Architects and Sr. UX Architects to join a multi-disciplinary team of user experience design professionals. This position is located in Atlanta, GA and requires ongoing collaboration with Corporate headquarters in Bloomington, IL; therefore occasional travel may be required. In this role you will work closely with Business Analysts, UX Leads, Content Strategists, Interaction Designers and UX Designers to interpret requirements, user research and personas while developing concept flows, wireframes and interactive prototypes for a wide range of consumer facing experiences. By leveraging our existing UX Pattern Library you will easily drive consistency across experiences, as well as identify emerging patterns and shape the direction of user experience enterprise wide. Collaboration and team work are paramount, and your background in information architecture and/or human computer interaction will set you up for success in this dynamic landscape. Your ongoing professional development is encouraged and supported through a variety of assignments, pertinent conferences and advanced training, while flexible schedule options allow for optimal work-life balance.
