The Social Media/Marketing Intern will support our mission by developing social media posts, videos, blogs and e-news to share our messaging through various online media outlets. The position requires excellent advertising writing skills and ability to effectively plan and implement various educational and fundraising messaging. **Writing samples are required with application. 

Primary Responsibilities: 
• Create and maintain a consistent voice on social media 
• Collaborate with staff to create a communications calendar for all social media platforms and meet all deadlines 
• Communicate Komen Austin’s community efforts and events effectively through each platform 
• Write and edit for the organization's blog 
• Interact with staff, volunteers, board and others in the breast health community to recruit guest bloggers 
• Pull market statistics and research to find new ways to use these platforms 
• Assist with marketing and social media needs for these initiatives: 
o Spring – Perfectly Pink Party, Eat.Drink.Shop.PINK, Volunteer Appreciation Week, Minority Cancer Awareness Week, Community Partner Announcement 
o Fall – Race for the Cure, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Hope for the Cure 
• Other tasks as assigned

Required Knowledge & Skills: 
• Skilled in advertising writing and writing for social media 
• Proficient in using WordPress, Twitter, Facebook and YouTube 
• Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Office and e-mail 
• Detail-oriented with strong project management skills 
• Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills essential with both internal and external clients 
• Efficient time management to meet deadlines 
• Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced work environment 
Other: 
• Must be 18 years or older and currently enrolled or a graduate of a college or university 
• Must have reliable transportation 
• Offers are contingent upon background check 
• Hours may vary from the standard 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. based on upcoming events 
• Bi-lingual or multi-lingual is a plus
