The Office of Strategic Initiatives monitors higher education issues at the UT System, state, and national levels for making recommendations on trends and best practices in higher education particularly as they relate to data-informed policy making and performance metrics. 

Purpose of Position 
Associate will provide research support for Office of Strategic Initiatives research projects. 

Essential Functions 
•The position will involve detailed data-related activities such as data entry, data cleaning, data validation, data coding. 
•Compare data with source documents/sites and help investigate inconsistencies and anomalous data. 
Compile data, create calculations and merges within spreadsheets, and strive for the highest quality of data integrity and accuracy—identifying any data errors or issues and working with supervisor to edit files in various formats (Excel, PDF, Word, PowerPoint, possibly SAS). 


Required Qualifications 
•Familiarity with data entry and manipulation in Microsoft Excel 
•Ability to stay on task with a minimum of supervision and seek input from supervisor as needed 
•Strong organizational skills and responsible work ethic 
•Ability to learn quickly by experience and instruction 
•Computer skills sufficient to assist with online searches and detailed data manipulation (familiarity with Microsoft Office). 


Preferred Qualifications 
Undergraduate students looking for long-term employment. Applicants able to work over semester breaks and during the summer will be given first consideration. Applicants should be detail-oriented, able to work well on tasks alone and with a team, friendly, good communication and customer service skills, and responsible. Willingness to handle a variety of tasks and interruptions. Good problem solving, ability to prioritize, and maturity in judgment. 

Working Conditions 
May work around standard office conditions. Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation. Use of manual dexterity.
