The Office of Strategic Initiatives monitors higher education issues at the UT System, state, and national levels for making recommendations on trends and best practices in higher education particularly as they relate to data-informed policy making and performance metrics. 

Purpose of Position 
Provide research support for Office of Strategic Initiatives research projects. 

Essential Functions 
• The position will involve detailed data-related activities such as data entry, data cleaning, data validation, data coding. 
• Compare data with source documents, or re-enter data in verification format to detect errors. 
• Compile, sort and verify the accuracy of data before it is entered. Locate and correct data entry errors, or report them to supervisors. 
• Other related duties as assigned. 

Required Qualifications 
Computer skills sufficient to assist with data entry and word processing in MS Word. Familiar with data entry and manipulation in MS Excel. Able to proofread for correct grammar and spelling. Strong organizational skills. Ability to stay on task with a minimum of supervision and seek input from supervisor as needed. Ability to learn quickly by experience and instruction 

Preferred Qualifications 
Undergraduate students looking for long-term employment. Applicants able to work over semester breaks and during the summer will be given first consideration. Applicants should be detail-oriented, able to work well on tasks alone and with a team, friendly, good communication and customer service skills and responsible. Willingness to handle a variety of tasks and interruptions. Good problem solving, ability to prioritize and maturity in judgment. 

Working Conditions 
May work around standard office conditions. Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation. Use of manual dexterity.
