Quick Guide to BTT Gateway

Beyond The Tower (BTT) Gateway is our online recruiting system designed to take liberal arts students Beyond the Tower. Liberal Arts students must have a BTT Gateway account to receive LACS services. BTT Gateway provides full access to a variety of career management needs, including:

  • Online appointment scheduling
  • Job and internship search
  • On-campus interview sign-up
  • Document management - resume, cover letter and writing samples
  • Account Privacy - managing how we communicate with you and when/if employers can search for you and see your resume (opt-in basis)

Login to Your Account

Visit the BTT Gateway page to login to your account or to create your account.

Schedule an Appointment

From your BTT Gateway homepage, select Appointments & Calendar from the left navigation bar. Then select Schedule an Appointment to get started. 

Account Privacy

Employer Viewing: If you opt-in to allowing employers viewing, they will see your default resume if you come up in their search.

Email Announcements: We distribute a weekly emails to announce upcoming events, programs and application deadlines, and we send targeted emails once in a while for larger events, like law fair, career fair and career courses.

  1. Access your account.
  2. Click “My Account” in the left-hand navigation bar.
  3. A drop-down menu will appear, select “Privacy.”
  4. Under “Receive LACS Email Announcements,” select [Yes] or [No].
  5. Under “Allow Employer Viewing,” select [Yes] or [No].
  6. Under “Promote Me To Employers,” select [Yes] or [No].
  7. Click “save changes.”

Uploading a Resume

Upload your resumes for jobs or internship postings that ask you to apply through BTT Gateway. The first resume you upload to BTT Gateway will be reviewed; please allow up to two business days for the review process, during which you will not be able to submit the resume for jobs or internships in BTT Gateway. Once you have an approved resume all subsequent uploads will not go through the review process. 

  1. Access your account.
  2. Click “Documents” on the left-hand navigation bar > “My Documents”
  3. Select “Add New” to upload your resume.
  4. Enter a name for the document within the “Label” box.
  5. Under “Document Type,” Select “Resume.”
  6. Click “Choose File” to upload your resume in MS Word or PDF format.
  7. Click “submit."

Job Application Guide

How to Apply for a Job/Internship
  1. Access your account.
  2. Complete your on-line profile.
  3. Upload your resume (please allow up to 2 business days for the review process of the first uploaded resume) and other required documents when requested.
  4. Click on “Jobs & Internships” in the left-hand navigation bar > “Search for Jobs”
  5. Click or search for the job or internship that interests you; you will only have access to those for which you qualify.
  6. Within the job profile, click “Apply” in the upper right-hand corner of the application.
  7. Select the appropriate resume and other documents when appropriate (many employers request only a resume). Please remember - you must turn off your pop-up window blocker in order to select your resume for application. If the employer requires more than one document (ex: resume and cover letter), you must submit both at the same time.
  8. Click “submit.”
How to Check your Job/Internship Application Status
  1. From your left-hand navigation bar, select Jobs & Internships > My Job Applications
  2. If you successfully submitted your documents for a job, the Status will say “Application Submitted,” followed by the date and time of submission.
Job/Internship Application Next Steps
  1. The morning after the application deadline, all submitted documents are sent to the employer.
  2. The employer manages all further communication regarding interview selection status. Therefore, you will receive a status update only when the employer sends that info directly to you.
How to Apply for a Job/Internship Linked to an Interview Schedule
  1. Complete your on-line profile.
  2. Upload your resume (Please allow 2 business days for approval of the first uploaded resume) and other required documents requested for the job.
  3. Click on 'Interview Schedules'.
  4. Click on 'Qualified Schedules' to see the jobs for which you are qualified.
  5. Note: You may select ‘Future Schedules’ to see all upcoming interviews, but you may not qualify for all of the positions listed.
  6. Click on the 'Schedule ID' of interest to you.
  7. From the job profile, click on 'Request Interview'
  8. Select the appropriate resume and other documents when appropriate (many employers request only a resume). Please remember - you must turn off your pop-up window blocker in order to select your resume for application. If the employer requires more than one document (ex: resume and cover letter), you must submit both at the same time.
  9. Click on the job description under 'Linked To Jobs' to read the description and qualifications for the position. Take note of additional application instructions, many employers require you to apply via their career website as well.
  10. You can check that you have applied for the position by reviewing your account activity. My Account > My Activity > Schedules.
How to Check your Interview Request Status
  1. My Account > My Activity > Schedules > Preselect
  2. If you have successfully requested an interview, you will see the position listed under ‘Preselect.’
Interview Request Next Steps
  1. After the job application deadline, employers will review all submitted documents.
  2. If you are selected for an interview you will receive an email from BTT Gateway indicating you have been selected.
  3. To sign up for an interview time slot, log on to your BTT Gateway account and visit My Account > My Activity > Preselect.
  4. Select the Schedule ID of the position you wish to view.
  5. Select ‘Sign Up’ to view the available time slots.
  6. Select ‘Sign-Up’ next to the time slot that you prefer for your interview.
  7. Take note of the time and date of your interview.
  8. Interviews scheduled through BTT Gateway will take place either in the Liberal Arts Career Services office, FAC 18, or in the Texas Recruitment + Interview Services (TRIS) center, SSB 4.102.
  9. If you do not wish to interview with a company, select ‘Decline Interview’.
  10. If you are not selected for an interview: The employer has the option of sending an email from BTT Gateway informing you that you have not been selected to interview. Please note that not all employers use this function.
Reasons why you May Not be Able to View a Job, Internship, or Interview Schedule
  • Employers have the option of screening four categories: GPA, Work Authorization, Graduation Date and Major.
  • If an employer has selected to screen any of the above categories, and you do not fit their screening criteria, you will not be able to view the job, internship, or interview schedule.
  • Please note that your BTT Gateway account is not linked to your information on file with the university. If your major, graduation date, or GPA has changed since you set up your BTT Gateway account, please update your BTT Gateway profile to reflect those changes.
  • Click the “My Account” tab and select the appropriate fields to update (under “Personal” and/or “Academic”).

BTT Gateway Tips

  • Update your account and documents every semester to reflect your academic and experiential development.
  • Ensure that your information is accurate and honest.
  • Ensure that you are familiar with the system before you begin your on-campus interview application period.
  • Explore the “Resources” tab for access to powerful research tools.
  • Upload your resume at least two business days in advance of an application deadline.
  • Speak to a LACS Career Advisor for help in navigating the on-line system.
