Boundless Nutrition

Fall 2013 Site Review

Position: Marketing Intern
Student: Sociology, Junior

This semester I have been interning with Boundless Nutrition, a local healthy food manufacturer in Austin, TX. This is a small company that believes in creating healthy, great-tasting, high-quality products everyone can enjoy. They believe in empowering people through innovative products to make positive changes. This semester I was a marketing intern within the company. My main objective was to assist in 2014 marketing plans and strategies. I assisted in marketing plans in a number of ways, one example being research.
My role within the company was to assist the director of marketing in multiple tasks. Each week the director of marketing would assign me daily or weekly tasks to be completed by a specific date. Daily tasks might include compiling data and research about competing brands and products. Weekly tasks might include analyzing the company’s social media and fans. Ongoing tasks included monitoring Boundless Nutrition’s Facebook posts, preparing demo kits, updating store data information.

This internship was 15hr/week, I came into the office three times a week for five hours each day. However, my boss was very understanding if I had a big test approaching and needed to leave a little early. By assigning me ongoing, daily, and weekly tasks I was always very busy. The largest assignment I finished in this internship was researching their social media and fans. Once I researched all the information, I put together a presentation, then presented my findings to the entire team, including the CEO. This internship has been an amazing experience, and has allowed me to complete tasks I never thought I would be able to do. My best advice to a student applying for a similar internship would be to never doubt yourself. Your boss should be willing to help you in tasks, thus ensuring your success within the company.
