Fall 2012 Site Review

Position: Legal Intern
Student: International Relations & Global Studies Junior

My internship site is in downtown Austin at the San Jacinto Complex which is right next to the Four Seasons Resort on Cesar Chavez and San Jacinto. I work on the fourteenth floor in the offices of Reaud Group. I do not technically have my own office yet but I do have an area where I get to work on whatever activities school or work related that I need to do. I usually get to the office between 10:30 to 11:00 a.m. depending on the day. Monday through Thursday I have to wear business attire and Friday is a little more casual in which I am allowed to wear nice jeans but still a button down or Polo. Normally they have food delivered from Whole Foods, although more than half the office, which are men cannot stand to eat the same healthy food daily. I can’t complain about free food though so I usually eat it. I take lunch when other interns or the secretary are taking theirs. I would say a typical day in the life of an intern at this office is sitting in your chair and getting whatever you need to do complete. It is a very stress free environment with everyone being courteous and respectful of one another. I haven’t had any issues while being an intern here other than the occasional you need to be here a little earlier but I tend to make up for that by the amount of hours I am here Monday through Friday and the occasional Saturday when I work at my bosses tailgate for his scholarship fund. I have relished this opportunity to work here and will continue to do so since I will be working here next semester.
