Deep Eddy Spirits

Spring 2015

Position: Brand Ambassador
Student: English Junior

A day in the life of a brand ambassador at Deep Eddy Vodka could best be described as eventful. You will be forced to wear a lot of hats, but that is the nature of a quickly expanding start up company. Since Deep Eddy Vodka started here in Austin we earn the pleasure of calling our particular office the corporate office, which is a double edge sword because with more power comes more responsibility, and the brunt of the companies operations fall onto us.

As far as what the intern has to do, daily office functions consist of keeping track and restocking inventory on two fronts. First, the office inventory: which is used to make donation gift baskets for charities and non profits, or to send to bloggers and PR firms in the hopes that they will write favorable reviews of our product. It also goes without saying that the intern is typically the individual who assembles and coordinates pick up time with whichever entity or nonprofit to whom we are donating. The second inventory you are responsible for keeping track of is the product inventory for events. This is a much larger supply of product sense we typically donate anywhere between 4"7 cases (12 bottles a case) for any given event. Not only does this product need to carefully recorded, but this is also the site in which we store all of our branded infrastructure such as 20x10 branded tents, mobile Deep Eddy Vodka bar’s and lighting components, ice bucks, branded cups, branded yeti coolers, extra mixers for events, basically everything we need to activate a donation or sponsorship event is stored in this room and it’s the interns job to make sure everything is organized and accounted for.

The third part of what the intern at Deep Eddy Vodka does, and probably most important, is the hands on marketing experience you gain when you physically load in, execute, and load out a sponsorship event. This is the most fun part of the job because it’s the most tangible and event activation is a creatively stimulating endeavor, and the parties are also a lot of fun to attend. You are many people’s best friend for bringing all of the vodka to the event, you get to shake a lot of hands, and it’s a very comfortable environment to do just that because nearly everybody has a cocktail in their hand.
