The Job Search for International Students

Companies Supporting Visa Applicants

International students requiring visa sponsorship to reside in the U.S. long term should research employers and job opportunities well in advance. Keep in mind that smaller organizations may lack the resources and/or legal knowledge required to navigate the complicated visa sponsorship process on behalf of their employees. Use resources such as Interstride and to target employers who have a history of sponsoring visas. In general larger companies are more likely to agree to sponsor international job applicants. Also note the H-1B visa sponsorship program is designed to facilitate the hiring of skilled professionals in short supply in the U.S. To that end we recommend building technical skills in employer high demand to be a more competitive applicant. For example, in previous years some of the most popular job titles successfully securing visa sponsorship include: Software Developer, Financial Analyst, Statistician, Database Administrator and Web Developer.
