The 2019-2020 Américo Paredes Distinguished Lecture Presents:

Alicia Schmidt Camacho

On The Defense of Ethnic Studies

With this annual lecture, we demonstrate our fearless commitment to advancing the public argument for Latino Studies, and for ethnic and race studies in general. This year, we are excited to welcome Dr. Alicia Schmidt Camacho, Chair of the Ethnicity, Race, and Migration Program at Yale University, and a notable voice in the recent national conversation over ethnic studies in higher ed.

In March, Camacho and 12 other tenured faculty withdrew in protest from Yale's Ethnicity, Race, and Migration Program, citing systematic disrespect of ethnic studies not just at Yale, but across the country.

Come out and stand with ethnic studies!

This event is free and open to the public.
