Professor Pattie Epps Awarded Grant from Documenting Endangered Languages Program
Professor Pattie Epps

Prof. Pattie Epps has been awarded a grant of $323,717 from the Documenting Endangered Languages program, a partnership of the National Endowment for the Humanities and the National Science Foundation. Pattie’s project is entitled "Documentation of Nadeb, a Naduhup language of Brazil.” The grant will support the documentation and description of Nadeb, an endangered language spoken in northwest Brazil. The project will, in collaboration with the Nadeb community, produce an annotated collection of digital recordings in audio and video, a grammatical description, lexicon, and collection of texts. The project also seeks to produce a comprehensive reference grammar, a dictionary (Nadeb-English-Portuguese), and a set of pedagogical materials for community use. Congratulations, Pattie!
