LLILAS Brazil Center Summer Scholarship

Available to current graduate students in any University of Texas at Austin program who will be conducting field research in Brazil during the summer of 2018. Recipients of the 2018 Anna Luiza Ozorio de Almeida Field Research Grant are not eligible to receive this grant.

Deadline: March 30, 2018

To apply, send a proposal, including research topic and detailed budget description, to Carla Silva-Muhammad.


Anna Luiza Ozorio de Almeida Field Research Grant

Support for graduate students in any University of Texas at Austin department whose field research deals with Brazil. Applicants should provide a brief statement of the research project they wish to carry out and should attach a short résumé/CV to the application. The application should be accompanied by one letter of recommendation.

UT-Fulbright Chair in Brazilian Studies

LLILAS and Fulbright Brazil are pleased to announce establishment of the annual Fulbright Chair in Social-Cultural Tensions and Public Policies. The UT-Fulbright professorship recognizes faculty members and researchers who have established a record of teaching and exhibit the potential to make significant contributions to the body of research in themes related to Social-Cultural Tensions and Public Policies.

VII Summer Scholarship for Graduate Students

The LLILAS Brazil Center at The University of Texas at Austin is pleased to announce that graduate students Davi Pereira Jr. (LLILAS), and Christian Elguera (Dept. of Spanish and Portuguese) have each received Brazil Center scholarship awards to support their respective summer 2017 research projects in Brazil.


UT-FAPESP Collaborative Research Awards

The UT-FAPESP agreement aims to promote and strengthen collaboration between UT Brazilianist faculty and researchers affiliated with higher education and research institutions in the Brazilian state of São Paulo.

UT-FAPEMIG Research Mobility 2016 Award Recipients

The University of Texas at Austin announced mobility awards for FAPEMIG–UT Austin. The agreement between FAPEMIG (Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de Minas Gerais) and UT Austin promoted and supported the mobility between researchers from the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais and UT faculty.

The following professors received funding to visit UT Austin and to conduct research for a one-month period during the spring 2017 semester:  Allison Barbieri (UFMG), Raquel Diniz Oliveira (CEFET MG), and Leonardo Parentoni (UFMG).
