Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowships

Brazil Center Field Research Grant, Summer 2020
Eligibility: Available to LLILAS graduate students whose field research deals with Brazil. Applicants must send a proposal of 1,000 words detailing their research project in Brazil for the summer of 2020 and justifying how the proposed activities would advance their research project and/or prepare them for a career focused on Brazilian Studies.

Portuguese Language Flagship Program
The Portuguese Flagship Program (PFP) is part of a national initiative sponsored by The National Security Education Program (NSEP) with the objective of improving the way we learn foreign languages and increasing the number of students who obtain “Superior” proficiency in Portuguese. Open to all undergraduate majors, PFP offers scholarship assistance for summer study abroad as well as a Portuguese Overseas Flagship Capstone Experience in Brazil, which includes a semester of coursework in Minas Gerais at the Universidade Federal São João del Rei (UFSJ) and a 15-week professional internship in Brazil.
