EVENT RESCHEDULED — Brazil Center Lecture: “Hábitos culturais no Rio e em São Paulo”

Mon, February 5, 2018 | Hackett Room, SRH 1.313

12:00 PM - 1:15 PM

In this talk, João Leiva presents the results of surveys conducted by JLeiva Culture & Sports in the cities of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro between 2013 and 2015 to study the cultural habits of the population of the two cities. Around 1,500 people were interviewed in Rio sample and 3,000 in São Paulo.

The study shows the percentage of people who attend cultural activities like movies, libraries, museums, musical shows, theater, traditional festivals, and the circus, among others. The survey points to how attendance changes when we compare people from different genres, ages, educational levels, and earnings.

Leiva is an economist trained at the School of Economics and Administration, University of São Paulo. In addition, he holds master’s degrees in cinema (USP) and cultural management (gestão cultural, UOC). He has run JLeiva Cultura & Esporte since 2004, an agency that provides consulting in the area of sports and culture.

Free and open to the public. Presented in Portuguese without translation.
