Info Session: Funding for Foreign Language & Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowships

Join Latin American Studies (LLILAS), CREEES, Middle Eastern Studies, European Studies, and the South Asia Institute for an information session on the Foreign Language & Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowships. 

The FLAS Fellowship Program provides over $1 million in funding from the US Department of Education to UT undergraduate and graduate students from all disciplines each year to study foreign languages and cultures!

Students and advisors are welcome to join us for an informational meeting on funding for summer or academic year study of foreign languages and area studies! A brief presentation on the FLAS Fellowship program, including application requirements, program benefits and responsibilities of awarded students will be followed by a Q&A session with UT FLAS Coordinators.

Languages for which UT centers receive FLAS funding:

Arabic • Bulgarian • Croatian • Czech • Danish • Dutch (Flemish) • French* • German* • Hebrew (modern) • Hindi • Italian • Malayalam • Norwegian • Persian • Polish • Portuguese • Quechuan • Romanian • Russian • Serbian • Spanish* • Swedish • Tamil • Turkish • Ukrainian • Urdu • Yiddish • Bengali (Bangla) • and other approved contemporary languages of the world regions represented.

* Only available for study by graduate students and at the intermediate level or above.

Food and refreshments provided on a first come, first served basis.
