Latino Studies at UT Austin welcomes a new staff member, Jennifer Manna. Jennifer became the new Senior Grants and Contracts Specialist effective April 9, 2018. In this new position, Jennifer will provide important support to researchers affiliated with the Latino Research Initiative, from preparing grant applications to administering funded awards.

Jennifer holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Texas A&M University and a Master of Education in School Counseling from Lamar University. Most recently, Jennifer earned her Certification in Research Administration.

Jennifer has supported research spanning proposal development and submission, contract negotiation, post-award accounting, best practice and resource development, and mentorship. Her professional background includes managing business operations at the multi-site Center for Health Organization Transformation funded by the National Science Foundation, performing post-award administration duties as Project Administrator at Texas A&M’s Sponsored Research Services, and streamlining proposals and agreement negotiations in the Office of Industry Engagement at UT.

Before joining the Latino Research Initiative, Jennifer was the International Office’s (IO) inaugural Senior Grants and Contracts Specialist. There she managed the IO’s grants portfolio, developing and documenting processes and procedures to make the grant proposal process and policy compliance more effective.

Since she began in research administration in 2009, she has thoroughly enjoyed her role as liaison and grants manager. Jennifer looks forward to getting to know the research staff at the Latino Research Initiative, learning about their research interests, and supporting their projects.

When not in grants-mode, she enjoys cooking and baking and cake decorating, dreaming about traveling to Italy again, and trying to keep up with her adorably charismatic toddler.
