2021 MMUF Southeast Regional Undergraduate Conference

This year's MMUF southeast regional conference will be held virtually on November 5th and 6th, 2021 and hosted by the University of Texas at Austin. Undergraduate fellows and coordinators from Duke University, Emory University, Rice University, the UNCF Consortium, the University of Puerto Rico and the University of Texas at Austin are eligible to attend.

Deadline for MMUF undergraduate fellows to submit abstracts via the submission form is October 15, 2021. 

Tentative Conference Schedule

Friday, November 5

  • 4:00 pm: Welcome from Coordinators and Dr. Richard Flores, Deputy to the President for Academic Affairs and Professor of Anthropology & Mexican American and Latina/o Studies
  • 4:15 pm - 5:15 pm: GAP & Graduate School panel
  • 5:15 pm - 6:15 pm: Dr. Dianne Stewart, Emory U, “Black Women, Black Love and the Contemporary Movement to Divest from Black Men”
  • 6:15 pm - 7:15 pm: Fellows activity (MMUF and graduate school trivia)

Saturday, November 6

  • 9:30 am -10:30 am: Parallel Sessions I (4 papers each)
  • Recess
  • 10:45 am - 11:45 am: Parallel Sessions II (4 papers each)
  • Recess
  • 12:00 am - 1:00 am: Plenary: Dr. Alberto Ledesma, UC Berkeley: “Familia, Invisibility, and Fear: My journey from undocumented immigrant student to university administrator”
  • 1:00 am - 1:30 am: Closing remarks (and awards)
