Location and Directions

The MES office are housed in Calhoun Hall (CAL) on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin.

The Center, Department, and Arabic Flagship Program main offices are located in CAL 528, at the opposite end of the hall from the staircase. Turn left on exiting the elevator.

Faculty offices are located on floors 1 (assistant instructors), 4 and 5.  Some faculty may be housed in other buildings on campus--please check the faculty directory online or in the lobby of the building adjacent to the elevator.  Teaching Assistant offices are located in Homer Rainey Hall (HRH) 3.102. and in the Flawn Academic Center (FAC) 27.

Calhoun is located in the middle of the "six pack" buildings along the west side of the South Mall (the grassy area between the Tower Plaza and Littlefield Fountain, along 21st Street). 

The nearest University-owned parking facilities are the San Antonio Garage, located one block west of Guadalupe at the corner of 25th, San Antonio, and Nueces Streets; or the Brazos Garage, located at Brazos and MLK (one block east of Congress, next to the Blanton Museum of Art).

The nearest public garage is the Dobie Mall garage, accessible from Whitis between 20th and 21st streets.

Hiring / Jobs

We do not accept unsolicited applications for teaching positions—including language instructors—or for teaching assistant positions. Any faculty positions that are currently available are posted on the University's Faculty Jobs web site.

Teaching assistant positions are primarily filled by students in MES programs. Currently admitted and enrolled UT students only may inquire of the graduate coordinator in their home department as to whether additional TAs are needed.
