CMES Publications accepts unsolicited submissions of book-length manuscripts for translations of modern and contemporary Arabic, Persian, Turkish and Hebrew fiction and poetry on a year-round basis. Translators should be able to provide documentation proving they have been granted English translation rights for the original publication (an email form the author is sufficient).

To submit your work, please send the following to the CMES Publications Editor at

  • Cover letter explaining the project and its significance as well as its relevance to our existing publication series, Modern Middle Eastern Literatures in Translation and Emerging Voices in the Middle East
  • Up to 50 pages of the manuscript, double-spaced.
  • An email or letter from the original author of the work proving they have provided you with translation rights.
  • A brief biography of the author and translator

Current Calls for Submissions:

YA Literature & Science Fiction: CMES is interested in expanding its repertoire of literature in translation by publishing genres of Middle Eastern literature that have largely gone neglected. In recent years, science fiction and young adult literature have become increasingly popular in the Middle East/North African region but English translations of such works are largely unavailable. We believe these books are an important addition to contemporary MENA literature and are therefore seeking manuscripts of Young Adult and Science Fiction novels in translation in the interest of widening the reach of these genres to a broader readership.
