A Reading by Fady Joudah and Ghassan Zaqtan

Fady Joudah is a practicing physician of internal medicine and an award-winning poet and translator living in Houston, TX. Among his translations are two poetry collections by Mahmoud Darwish, If I Were Another and The Butterfly's Burden. Published earlier this year by Yale University Press, Like a Straw Bird It Follows Me and Other Poems is a selection of Ghassan Zaqtan's most recent poetry translated by Fady Joudah.

Palestinian poet Ghassan Zaqtan is the author of ten collections of poetry. He is also a novelist, editor, and filmmaker. He was born in Beit Jala, near Bethlehem, and has lived in Jordan, Beirut, Damascus, and Tunis. He now lives in Ramallah.

Ghassan Zaqtan's visit to the US is supported by International Poets in Conversation, a program of the Poetry Foundation's Harriet Monroe Institute.
