Financial Support
Undergraduate students awarded an Academic Year FLAS are given a nine-month stipend of $5,000 (paid monthly September-May), plus resident tuition for up to $10,000 per academic year. Any remaining balance is the responsibility of the student.

Requirements
The Academic Year FLAS can be used for either domestic full-time language and area or international studies, or overseas full-time language and area or international studies. In both the Fall and Spring semesters, students must be registered for one approved Area Studies course and one approved language course, and these courses should be taken on a letter-grade basis (pass/fail or credit/no credit is not allowed). Undergraduate students will also attend four CMES events throughout the year.
