Graduate Handbook
The 2024-2025 C/DMES Graduate Handbook, available for download here, describes the structure of the Center for Middle Eastern Studies (CMES), requirements for the Master of Arts and relevant student resources; and the Department of Middle Eastern Studies (DMES) requirements for the doctoral programs.
The policies and procedures in this handbook should be understood as governing the course of graduate study in the Center for and Department of Middle Eastern Studies at The University of Texas at Austin, in conjunction with the policies and procedures described in the University’s Graduate Catalog. C/DMES policies and procedures may be amended by action of the C/DMES Chair/Director and/or the Graduate Studies Committee at any time.
Each student is expected to read and keep a copy of the handbook, which contains the rules and guidelines that apply to that student and their particular cohort. Enrollment in the academic program acts as an agreement to adhere to the rules and standards contained within this handbook.
For questions about topics not addressed in the handbook, please contact the C/DMES Graduate Coordinator.
