The Center for Middle Eastern Studies at The University of Texas at Austin has once again awarded the designation of National Resource Center (NRC) under the US Department of Education's Title VI of the Higher Education Act for 2018–2022.

National Resource Centers Program funding provides the means to establish, strengthen, and operate language and area or international studies centers that will be national resources for teaching any modern foreign language. Grants support includes instruction in fields needed to provide a full understanding of areas, regions or countries; research and training in international studies; work in the language aspects of professional and other fields of study; and instruction and research on issues in world affairs. It also funds a wide, dynamic, and diverse range of events; it supports outreach to the community; it maintains a thriving graduate program; it helps enrich our library. That we were awarded Title VI shows that the efforts of our faculty, staff, and students are recognized and admired beyond

CMES also received the prestigious Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) funding for the four-year period, which allows us to provide the academic year and summer fellowships to undergraduate and graduate students studying our region's foreign languages and related area or international studies. Please visit the funding tab to learn more.

We are delighted that we can continue to support as well as to benefit from all our students and faculty.
