NAIS has arranged the following internship opportunity in the community for an undergraduate student

Length of the Internship: Fall 2018 semester
Credit: 3-credit conference course

NAIS will provide the selected student with a $400 scholarship to support travel and meal costs related to the internship.

Native American and Indigenous Studies (NAIS) at UT Austin, in collaboration with Great Promise for American Indians, will offer a unique opportunity to UT undergraduate students: an Austin Powwow Internship.

Great Promise for American Indians is an important organization of Native life in Austin and Central Texas, which mission is to preserve the traditions, heritage and culture of American Indians (

The Austin Powwow Internship is designed to provide a UT undergraduate student with valuable experience in the local organization of a Powwow. Through this NAIS/Great Promise Internship, the student will have the opportunity to get involved in the Powwow community as well as in the endeavors of American Indians and its allies in the area. The experience gained by interns will benefit them in their learning and education about Native American life in Central Texas and the meaning of the Powwow in the broader context of the Native American and Indigenous experience.

Once selected, the intern will work with the Austin Powwow on variety of tasks that will support the program.
