The Plan II Director's Circle & Plan II Parents' Circles

The Plan II Honors Program’s long history of academic excellence, fostered by award-winning faculty and staff, continues to attract some of the most accomplished and ambitious students in the state of Texas and the nation. Today, more than ever, the interdisciplinary education that Plan II has always embraced takes place both in and beyond the classroom: in experiences such as study abroad, research, and internships which broaden and deepen our students’ understanding of the world and play a meaningful role in helping them achieve their academic and career goals. We want, above all, to provide both academic and practical, hands-on experiences for every Plan II student to help prepare them for success in an increasingly complex and global society.

Providing an exceptional 21st-century education that integrates off-campus study, research, and internships into our Arts and Sciences curriculum is crucial to our mission as one of the finest honors program in the nation. But unfortunately, we face a mounting challenge in funding these important encounters beyond the Forty Acres, as opportunities expand and student demand continues to grow.

Through our Travel Grant and Thesis Grant programs, we seek to support every Plan II student by providing scholarships for needs such as:

•    Cost of travel to conduct thesis research at an archive
•    Cost of travel to attend or present at an academic conference
•    Funding for laboratory or production materials for a senior thesis project
•    Study abroad tuition and program costs
•    Travel to another city where a student will undertake a summer internship
•    Civic engagement internships during the academic year

The vast majority of the funding Plan II has to provide for these grants comes from the generosity of our alumni, parents and friends in the form of annual gifts. As costs and the number of applications rise each year, we need your help to keep these transformative experiences a reality for our students. Through the Plan II Director’s and Plan II Parents' Circles, our alumni, parents, and friends have an opportunity to participate more directly in supporting our current students and their engagement with the world.

Director’s Circle members are asked to make a tax-deductible annual gift of $2,500 or more to the Plan II program, which will be used to fund academic travel, internships, undergraduate research, and support for Study Abroad. Click here to make a gift to join the Plan II Director's Circle.

Parents' Circle members are asked to make a tax-deductible annual gift of $1,500 or more to the Plan II program, which will be used to fund academic travel, internships, undergraduate research, and support for Study Abroad. Click here to make a gift to join the Plan II Parents Circle.

Contributing members will receive name recognition on the Plan II website, a Director’s or Parents' Circle Plan II logo removable sticker, and thank you letters at the end of the year from some of the students whose educational goals they helped support.

Should you be interested in creating a permanent, named endowment to support these critical academic activities, we would be delighted to talk with you about how to do so.

Thank you for considering Plan II in your charitable donations throughout the year - gifts of all sizes are deeply appreciated and are vitally important to the daily operations of the program. Should you wish to make a one-time, tax deductible donation of any size to the general program needs, you may do so online here, or by simply sending a check made out to The University of Texas at Austin to our office address:
