Worthington Essay Awards Presentation Ceremony

Thursday, March 29 in the Joynes Reading Room, 7:00 pm Roger Worthington comes from California to present the awards and to congratulate the the 2006 Worthington Essay winners.

All Plan II students, essay judges, and faculty are invited.

Prize-winners Sandeep Mehta and Whitney Yang will read from their essays which respond to a hypothetical scenario in which Plan II students must advise leaders in business, politics, education and finance about how to increase voter turnout. This will be an engaging, provocative evening with delicious free food, and the opportunity to mingle. Students considering entering next year's Worthington Essay Contest should find this event helpful for getting a sense of the attributes of a winning submission.

Threepenny, directed by Rotimi Agbabiaka is an adaptation of The Theepenny Opera written by German Playwright Bertolt Brecht and first produced 1928. Threepenny is a deliciously dark satire of "respectable" society, with debonair thieves, impudent prostitutes and lingering melodies.

Peer Advising for fall 2006, registration for spring 2007

Peer avising hours during the week of Oct. 23 to 27 are from 10 to 5 pm, Monday through Friday, except for 4-5 pm on Friday. All freshmen must see a peer adviser to get advising bar lifted for spring registration.

A generous gift from Plan II alumnus Roger Worthington and his wife Ann made the Worthington Essay Prize possible beginning in 2002. Now a yearly competition, the Worthington Essay competition poses a difficult moral problem each year which entrants are asked answer in their essays.
