Humanity in Action, Deadline: Feb 7, 2007

Thu, November 9, 2006

Plan II has been very well represented in HIA. In 2004, Kan Yan was selected; in 2005, David Mandel-Anthony was selected along with Zach Smith (and Vinh Doquang, who unfortunately had to decline because of Teach for America), and in 2006, Zach Neumann was selected.

Humanity in Action sponsors six summer programs on minority and human rights issues in Europe and the United States. We will select a total of 62 students from U.S. colleges and universities to participate in the 2007 programs. We welcome applicants from all academic disciplines who are actively seeking new perspectives on minority issues. Fellows are selected on the basis of academic achievement, leadership ability, and commitment to human rights and minority issues. The 2007 summer programs will take place in Amsterdam, Berlin, Copenhagen, New York, Paris, and Warsaw. To ensure participation of all qualified applicants, HIA pays virtually all of the costs of participation.

Humanity in Action (HIA) is a New York-based not-for-profit organization founded in 1998. HIA believes that an important test of a genuine democracy is how it treats its racial, ethnic, and religious minorities. It also believes that the commitment to democratic values and the protection of minorities cannot be taken for granted in the United States and Europe. HIA provides fellows with a common educational background, experience working with peers across the Atlantic, and access to a network of board members and experts for lifelong guidance and support. Through core summer programs, Senior Fellows networks, and prestigious national and international internship opportunities, HIA encourages fellows to become global leaders. Complete information about HIA and the full range of our programs can be found on our website Humanity in Action
