40 Acres Application Process

Deadlines: December 1, 2010 is the application deadline for the 40 Acres Scholars Program, admission to The University of Texas at Austin and UT Austin's Honors Programs. Each process is separate. To apply for the 40 Acres Scholarship, please visit 40 Acres.

You must apply to the 40 Acres Scholars Program via the online system.

Be sure to look at the 40 Acres Scholars Qualifications under "Who Can Apply" to make sure that you are eligible.

Two recommendations must be submitted via the online system by December 1, 2010.

  1. A teacher whose full-year class you have taken
  2. Another teacher whose full-year class you have taken or an advisor or coach who has worked with you at least one complete year. All recommenders must have an email address and access to the Internet so that they can submit their responses via our online system. An email will be sent to them notifying them to fill out their recommendation form.

It is important that applicants select recommenders carefully.
We rely on their input to enhance our understanding of each candidate. Applicants must communicate clearly with these individuals about the importance of their recommendations, and allow them sufficient time to complete their recommendations thoroughly.

Our Name
The Forty Acres is a traditional name still in use for the UT campus, which stood that size after the University's founding in 1883. By 1982, the grounds had grown to some 388 acres. Today's campus is interspersed with classic buildings and cutting-edge new facilities, shaded by gracious live oak trees, and crowned by the famous Tower. As home to a spirited, diverse community of Longhorns who come to Texas from around the world, the Forty Acres is truly a special place to study and grow.
