Visiting Demographers Program

The Visiting Demographers Program aims to provide extended opportunities for intellectual exchange and long-term collaborations among PRC Faculty Research Associates and experts in demography and to promote synergies with other population centers across the country. Reflecting the PRC’s emphasis on interdisciplinary research, participants in the Visiting Demographers Program may have backgrounds in economics, sociology, history, epidemiology, and geography, among others; the uniting theme is a central focus on population studies and leadership in the field.

The PRC sponsors four visiting demographers each academic year, providing a $1,500 honorarium and support for all lodging, travel, and meals. Nominations for the program are solicited from each topical working group every spring.  All visiting demographers will spend a work week at the PRC, during which they will participate in working groups, present their research to the PRC faculty, and meet with faculty demographers in their research areas. Visitors will be given a private office and lodging at the AT&T Executive Education and Conference Center (located on campus close to the PRC) to facilitate their participation in PRC daily life. PRC faculty research associates will arrange shared meals and social events throughout the week.
