Biography


Joanna Pepin graduated from the University of Maryland with a PhD in sociology. She joins the Population Research Center at the University of Texas at Austin as a NICHD Postdoctoral Fellow in the fall of 2018.

She studies inequality related to gender and families, using a life course perspective and a variety of methodological approaches and data sources: experimental designs, time diary data, attitude surveys, census data, content analyses, and interviews. Her research has appeared in the Journal of Marriage and Family, DemographySociological Inquiry and Sociological Specturm. Joanna's reserach has received national media attention, covered by news outlets such as the New York TimesWashington PostTime Magazine, The GaurdianSociological Images, and Alternet.
