Zhiyong Lin

Zhiyong Lin received his Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Maryland, College Park in 2020. He is a social demographer and medical sociologist studying family dynamics and health inequalities over the life course. One line of his research consists of social determinants of well-being, mostly among older adults. The other strand of his research investigates the changing patterns of intimate relationships in non-Western social contexts undergoing dramatic social transitions. His work has appeared in Demography, Journal of Gerontology: Social Sciences, Journal of Health and Social BehaviorDemographic ResearchAgeing & SocietyAging & Mental Health, and other academic journals. He is working with Dr. Debra Umberson on the Health Experiences After Loss: Insulating the Next Generation (HEALING) Project.
