Michael Scott is a Ph.D. student in the Educational Policy and Planning program in the Department of Educational Administration and a graduate research trainee at the Population Research Center.  He graduated from the University of Virginia with a bachelor's degree in Spanish and history and a master's degree in teaching.  He later competed a master's degree in Spanish linguistics from Middlebury College.  His research centers around equal educational opportunity through analyzing the intersection of schools and communities, particularly for immigrant students living in urban neighborhoods.  He utilizes both ethnographic and quantitative methods.
