Shannon Cavanagh Receives Inaugural BDP Faculty Mentor Award
Shannon Cavanagh

Dr Shannon Cavanagh has been selected as the inaugural recipient of the annual Bridging Disciplines Programs Faculty Mentor Award.

The BDPs created this award to recognize faculty mentors who have been exemplary in working with BDP students in their Connecting Experiences. The BDPs accepted nominations from students and alumni, and a group of BDP faculty panel members served as the selection committee for the award.

Dr Cavanagh has mentored students in 40 different Connecting Experiences over the years. One student noted: "My work on racial/ethnic disparities in birth outcomes was really the highlight of my UT experience. I am so grateful to have had the support of Dr Cavanagh throughout the journey. She is a light at this university."

Dr Cavanagh will be presented with this award at the BDP 15th anniversary celebration on October 5 from 3-5 pm in the Texas Union Ballroom.
