Aversive motivation and maintenance of a monogamous pair bond

Wed, April 23, 2014 | SEA Library, 4.244

3:00 PM - 4:00 PM

Speaker:  Brandon Aragona, Ph.D.

A great deal of brain circuitry has evolved to mediate adaptive behaviors that enhance fitness (promote survival or reproduction).  Such behaviors that have appetitive and consummatory phases and wherein the behavioral goal has a strong affective impact, are referred to as motivated behaviors.  The Aragona Lab focuses on pair bonding (monogamous) behavior in prairie voles and reward seeking behavior in rats.
